What are Coping Skills?
What are [coping skills] and why should I practice them in a group?
Life gets hard sometimes. Even when we’re doing “all the right things”. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, anxious, stuck, or just a little off, having solid coping skills can make a huge difference in how you move through stress and take care of yourself.
But what exactly are coping skills?
Let’s break it down.
What Are Coping Skills?
Coping skills are the tools we use, consciously or unconsciously, to handle stress. They can help us calm down, process emotions, stay grounded, and navigate challenges with a bit more ease. Some coping skills are super practical (like deep breathing, journaling, or taking a walk), while others are about how we talk to ourselves, set boundaries, or reach out for support.
Here at Take Care, we think of coping skills as ways to tend to your nervous system, your heart, and your mind - so you can feel more in control and less alone in what you’re going through.
Why Practice in a Group?
Group settings can feel a little intimidating at first. We get it. But something special happens when people come together to support each other. In our [Coping Skills Group], you’ll have the chance to:
☀️ Learn and try out new skills in a safe, supportive space
☀️ See that you’re not the only one struggling (we promise you’re not!)
☀️ Ask questions and reflect on what works best for you
☀️ Build consistency and accountability
There’s no need to share more than you want to, and you can join any week that works for you. It’s a low-commitment, judgment-free space to build up your toolkit, and maybe even feel a little more connected along the way.
